Gentle Snowflakes

MERRY {late} CHRISTMAS!
I hope everyone has had a truly beautiful holiday and looking forward to a wonderful New Year! I'm guessing most of you got to enjoy a white Christmas this year, which is pretty much a first for us Alabama youngins, and had probably the best Christmas of your life! I know I did! Here's a few photos from Ft. Payne and the Gatlinburg trip.

I have more and better pictures but...they're on Tom's phone. But I do love these. I loved the snow. I loved watching it float gently, quietly to the ground, making everything it covered beautiful. I love the silence it throws over the woods with nothing moving but the red birds. I loved its icy touch on my face and the light clumps it left in my hair and eyelashes. And as I was watching the flakes fall, I thanked God for it. And I thought, silly as it may seem, that He sent it for us, for our family. He knew it was going to be a hard Christmas without my Pawpaw and so he gave us snow. Quiet, gentle, peaceful snow to comfort us and bring some unexpected joy on an otherwise bleak Christmas morning. God just dumped a little joy all over our mountain! And I'm in awe once again of the beauty my God can create.

This will probably be my last entry of the 2010 so until then, here's to you bloggers! May the rest of your year be merry and bright! See you next year :)

My Super Short Blog

Hello Bloggers!

Guess what... I GOT MY RING BACK!! early! Which is awesome because I wasn't supposed to get it until after Christmas. The waiting almost killed me! Also while we were picking up my ring we finally picked out wedding bands! Well sort of. I found the perfect one and Tommy narrowed is selection down to two. The ring-picking process taught me the difference between boys and girls (well, besides the obvious ones). While I chose my band by how well it complimented my engagement ring, Tommy asked about a hundred questons all centered around how durible his would be. Hey, at least one of us looks at the important side of jewlery.

On another note, I have finally selected my bridal party and gotten responses back from everyone! I debated for AGES on who to ask. You guys have no idea how hard it was not to have 20+ girls up there, but I figured I should at least have a few people in the audience. I narrowed it down to eight bridesmaids, one junior bridesmaid, and four flower girls.
Bridesmaids: Sydney Baird- MOH, Leslie Crow- MOH, Kara Ledford, Anna Katherine Cabaniss, Holli Snow, Meghan Kelly, Keli Barnett, and Savannah Crawford
Junior Bridesmaid: Kylie Lowery
Flower Girls: Abby Boatwright, Sara Boatwright, Brooklyn Wright, Katie Lowery

That's all I have for you tonight. Now I'm off to Hooligan's with Meghan and Blayne on a school night because I'm offically a graduate! Wishing everyone a Very Merry Christmas :)

Venues and Ringtastrophes

Since school has been in I haven't gotten hardly any wedding planning done. I've got the whole living arrangements thing on lock, but the wedding is a completely different story. Back in October I went to look at the Robertson barn. I'd have seen barn weddings and thought they were beautiful, but the ones in the pictures were very rustic and this wasn't exactly what I'd had in mind. I'm on a super tight budget and I would have had to buy a million flowers to decorate. Have you seen the price of flowers lately?!?! It's outrageous! Especially since they'll just die in a few days! But I went ahead and booked the barn because I wasn't sure if I didn't like it or if I just wasn't in the mood to like it (I had appointment to see it only a few hours after finding out that my Pawpaw had passed away). Don't get me wrong, it was wonderful, just not the picture in my head. But then last Wednesday I went to view the Battle Friedmon and fell in love! It is PERFECT!!! It's classic and old and beautiful! And it is covered in FREE flowers! We're getting married under the gazebo which is shaded by a giant magnolia tree and roses cascade down the side. So I am offically getting married July 7th that the Battle Friedmon home! Yay!

I don't know if you've noticed, but Tommy picked me out a fabulous engagement ring all by himself. It's is my most valued material posession and I love it so much! I never take it off except for when I'm sleeping, but last Thursday I went to Peterbrook for the Ambassadors' Christmas Party and well...that was my first ringtastrophe. DUN DUN DUUUNNN! I had to take my rings off to put my gloves on and I was so preoccupied with gleefully eating my weight in melted milk chocolate that I left my rings in the apron pocket!! But lucky for me, the wonderful Caitlin Golden drove all the way back to Peterbrook to unlock the store and let me inside! Ain't she great?!

But that Sunday I had another ringtastrophe...I looked down at my ring and a diamond was MISSING!!! WHAT?!?! Yep right on the band there is a big black gap. It looks like a pulled tooth! Thank goodness Tom thought ahead and bought insurence! Last night I had to give the ring back...it's sad...and I'm back to wearing my promise ring for a while. Oh well...hopefully I'll be getting it back soon!

Needless to say, it's been an eventful week.
